Today’s goal was to write up a handful of reviews and get a head start on posts for the rest of the week – you know, actually schedule posts instead of writing things last minute. I accomplished approximately none of that. I spent the majority of my day feeling guilty for not writing but also sitting in a fog. I’m not gonna lie, almost decided to skip today BUT I really want to try and go all in for blogtober. So here I am, back out of bed, to tell you about three books I meant to read last year – a #Blogtober Challenge prompt from Anniek and Hâf‘s wonderful list of prompts that have been saving all the days for me.
So, realistically, if we were to look at a list of books I meant to read last year, it would look a little something like this:
Getting it down to three was difficult so I decided to add on the rule that it had to be something that I had in my hands, ready to read at some point in time last year. That narrowed it down quite a bit. I also made sure it wasn’t a book I read this year. That’s right – we’re doing a bit of a shame post here. These three books are books that I had in my hands, fully intending to read last year and then didn’t AND I still haven’t gotten around to reading them yet.
Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao
So, I remember checking this book out at the library. I was super excited to read it and then I just never read it and had to return it unread. I keep meaning to get back to it and actually own a copy of it on my kindle now. Some day I’ll read it, I swear.
Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
This one I had checked out and I actually got a fair amount of it read before my life turned into a total dumpster fire and I had to return it partially read. I have since managed to get a copy of my own at a second hand store and I can’t wait to get back to it!
Sea Witch by Sarah Henning
I actually had borrowed the audiobook for this from my library and was listening to it at work right around the time we had someone quit without even giving so much as a two week’s notice. From that day on we proceeded to work half-staffed for about 3-4 months. I’m still a little salty about it which seems appropriate given the title.
I honestly hope to get back to all three of these books soon (eventually?) but in the meantime, they remain on my TBR surrounded by hundreds of other books. I’m sure they’re in good company.
What are some books that you meant to read last year but just haven’t gotten around to reading yet? Have you read any of the three books I listed?
